Classic Everest Base Camp Trek
Classic Everest Base Camp Trek via Jiri rewards you with the utmost scenery from the southern Solu areas of the Everest region to the high scenic Khumbu valley. The trekking route is less used by travellers nowadays. You will be rewarded by the landscapes and scenery of the old trail which follows the footsteps of the legendary late Tenzing and Hillary when they first conquered the Mt. Everest summit.
This trekking route starts from Jiri to Namchebazaar and leads you to EBC. The trekking route from Namche Bazaar to Everest Base Camp is the same and Jiri to Namche Bazaar is an exciting addition to the Everest Base Camp Trek.
Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek starts from Kathmandu. A drive will then take you to Jiri, also known as Switzerland of Nepal for its beautiful scenery of the verdant valley and green hills. You will then head towards Solukhumbu areas inhabited by Sherpa and other hill tribes Rai, Magar and Tamang. The adventure then leads you into the enchanting woodland of rhododendron and pine trees. After crossing the scenic Lamjura-La pass, you will reach Junbesi village filled with Buddhist culture.
The walk will then take you further away from Solu and the southern parts of the Everest region to reach the beautiful Khumbu valley. You will head further higher towards the middle of the world’s highest mountains in the harmony of lovely traditional Sherpa villages of Monjo, Namche, scenic Tengboche and its enchanting monastery. Finally, steady walks will then lead you to Everest Base Camp enclosed by the world’s highest mountains facing massive Khumbu Ice Falls and glaciers.
Jiri to EBC Trek’s return journey leads back to Namche Bazaar with a visit to the highest spot of the adventure, Kalapathar at 5,545 m. Kalapatthar is renowned for its overwhelming panorama of peaks including Mt Everest. After completing our adventurous walk to the Everest base camp and Kalapatthar, a slow downhill walk will take you to the gateway town of Everest, Lukla for a short scenic flight back to Kathmandu.
