Holy Lake Gosaikunda Trek Overview

Holy Lake Gosaikunda Trek is lively in the month of August (monsoon times) of Janai Purnima where a great number of Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims visit the lake for a holy dip and offer religious rites and prayer.

Another popular belief is that a huge rock in the centre of a pond once remains from the Shiva temple. Nepalese people believe that the water from this holy pond flows through secret channels directly to the holy pool of Kumbheshwar Temple situated in Kathmandu valley at Patan/Lalitpur city. Our scenic and religious journey of purpose starts from Kathmandu with interesting overland to reach high cooler areas of Langtang Himal in Dhunche the headquarters town of Rasuwa district and home to Tamang hill tribes.

The Holy Gosaikunda Trek then leads to climbs into enchanting woodland to reach the Sing Gompa area and further high past tree lines to reach our exotic destination at Gosaikunda. You will witness the marvellous beauty of the surrounding around this holy spot. We then head back to Kathmandu after an amazing time at Holy Gosaikunda Trek. Gosaikunda is considered one of the holiest of all holy spots around Nepal and India. Hindus believe Lord Shiva (one of the main Hindu gods after Bhrama and Vishnu) is respected as a creator and destroyer of the universe. One time the earth was poisoned by demons. Lord Shiva drank the deadly poison to save the world drank and to save himself needed to dilute the deadly poison. So, with his mighty weapon, he struck the ground where ponds were created and drank the cool water to relinquish the poison.
