Tamang Heritage Trekking is an exclusive and different kind of adventure from other Himalayan walks. The trek takes you to observe and explore villages within Ganesh and Langtang Himal ranges. Tamang Heritage Trail Trek is one of the least ventured walking areas within the central Himalayas. It lies close to the Tibet border on the old Trans Himalaya Salt and Caravan route of Nepal to Tibet.

Tamang, an ancient tribe residing on the hills and mountains of Nepal Himalaya migrated to the upper high areas of Nepal from inner Mongolia and Tibet with more than 5,000 years of history.

The Tamang besides Buddhism religions also practices the ancient Bon culture Buddhism, worshipping natural spirits and mountains and making the native villages worth visiting on this Tamang Heritage Trail Trekking.

The adventure begins from Kathmandu heading straight north towards the Langtang Himal range around the district of Rasuwa which is also the present main route to Tibet. The drive takes you to cooler hills within traditional Tamang farm villages. As our overland journey ends start scenic walks onto high hills visiting lovely villages of Gatlang, Tatopani, a village with a natural hot spring as the name means and walking into an enchanting forest of tall Rhododendron and pines with excellent views of Central Himalaya that includes Ganesh and Langtang mountain range.

On reaching Kathmandu international airport where you will be received by Heaven Nepal Adventure staff or guide, then transfer to your hotel in the hub of Kathmandu city around Thamel. Thamel the interesting and exciting area of the city, after checking into your rooms, then will go meet your Tour Operator for a short brief about your programs and other useful necessary information. Group Welcome Dinner in a nice authentic Nepalese Restaurant to soak in the local culture, where a folk music program entertains you along with dinner.

 

The morning after breakfast leaves the hotel following our city guide that takes you around great interesting places with a tour of world heritage sites, with time in the afternoon to prepare for the trek.

The morning after breakfast, the drive takes you to higher north around Central Himalaya within Langtang Himal at Rasuwa district. The journey passes through rural farm villages and towns to reach at Dhunche a major town and headquarters of Rasuwa district, where Langtang National Park entrance is located, our ride continues further downhill on the zig-zag winding road to reach Syabrubesi village for first overnight within Langtang Himal.

From Syabrubesi village first day and morning walk to the nice village at Gatlang past Goljung, as route leads past Tamang farm villages facing views of Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung peaks. As the walk continues with a slow climb to reach one of the large Tamang villages Gatlang

for overnight stop, where you will be greeted with a warm welcome in traditional custom presents you with Khada (religious silk scarf) and then transfer to local home-stay for overnight, with time to visit around the villages and interact with the locals.

Gatlang, located on a hill with nice tended terraced farms and stone houses of the traditional architecture of Tibetan style, visit the local old monastery and beautiful Parvati-Kunda Lake at Gatlang, with the cultural show of Goljung and Gatlang makes your stay a special.

The walk begins with a descent to Thangbuchet, on the way views of Langtang peaks and Ganesh Himal with Tibet Mountains in the north, walk leads past small farm villages and into alpine woodland to reach Tatopani for an overnight stop. Afternoon visit hot springs ‘Tatopani’ means hot water rising from the fresh spring with time for a short walk around villages. Tatopani means ‘hot water’; believed a dip in the spring heals you from pain and aches and relaxes your tired muscles, afternoon with time to experience Tamang culture and explore around as well interact with the locals.

Morning walk from Tatopani leads to Thuman via high Nagthali and Bimthang as our route leads into an alpine forest, chances of spotting monkeys and deer or rare endangered Red Panda. On reaching Nagthali enjoy a clear view of Langtang Himal, Kerung area with Ganesh Himal, Nagthali in early days time a popular meditation centre of local monks and priests, from here another hour walk to reach at Thuman, where you can observe local villages farm life with Shamanic performances with a view of Langtang Himal.

From Thuman trek to Briddim village on route visit nearby historical Rasuwa-Gadi the border of Nepal / Tibet, China with an old fort. The fort is a historical reminder of Nepal and Tibet trade and cultural relations that existed for many centuries till the present, as a walk today takes you to a nice area with views of Ganesh and Langtang Himal. A pleasant walk on a winding path with a climb to a ridge with views of mountains and surrounding landscapes and then enter into rhododendron, pines and oaks forest, then climb with short descend to Briddim for the overnight stop. Briddim, similar to Tibetan looking Buddhist village located on an ancient trade route between Nepal and Tibet here enjoys folk and cultural show performed by the local village community.

The final day of a scenic and pleasant walk, morning leads you to Syabrubesi on the road heading to Kathmandu, as the walk takes you on the downhill path past farm fields with nice tended terraces to reach Syabrubesi for the last overnight stop around Rasuwa district within Langtang Himal.

From Syabrubesi journey reach you at Kathmandu after an enjoyable and great moment on Tamang Heritage Trekking. Morning overland journey to Kathmandu after last overnight at Syabrubesi, as drive lead on the same exciting and interesting highway to reach Kathmandu and to your respective hotels, with the afternoon free to enjoy your own personal activities and shopping.

 

Last day in Nepal enjoying exciting and fabulous times with great experience on Nepal Central Himalaya around Langtang Himal, as time for your international flight and then depart from the hotel, where Nature Heaven staff and guide transfers you for your flight homeward bound or to respective countries.

Meals and Accommodations:

In major cities like Pokhara and Kathmandu, you will get multiple options to choose from, from cheap lodges to extravagant 5 stars hotels. Likewise, you will also get to choose from a wide range of cuisines while in the major cities. However, once you move away from the cities, the options for meals and accommodations in Nepal will become limited. During the treks, the best accommodations available are lodges and teahouses. They provide basic facilities for dining and lodging. These places mostly serve traditional Nepali food “Daal Bhat Tarkari” (rice, pulses, and vegetables). Similarly, there are several other food varieties like Momo, Thukpa, and Thakali food available across Nepal.

Banking, ATMs, and Money in Nepal:

Nepalese Rupees are the official currency of Nepal. The banknotes of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, and 1000 whereas coins of 1 and 2 are available in Nepal. While travelling to Nepal, banking and money exchange are not a huge deal in big cities like Pokhara and Kathmandu. When you head to rural areas, the availability of banks, ATMs, and money exchange booths becomes fairly scarce. So, it is best to withdraw enough cash and exchange the currency in major cities.

You can also exchange foreign currencies for Nepali Rupees at the Tribhuvan International Airport. You need to be updated about the exchange rates which are available at the official website of Neal Rastra Bank at https://www.nrb.org.np/fxmexchangerate.php.

Trekking Crews:

You will provide government registered, well-trained English Speaking guide, who has to acknowledge responsible tourism flew of areas and eco-friendly tourism

Size of Group:

Acclimatization:

Trekking in the Everest Region is much more difficult as it is even more technical. We give you special priority to its technical sides as well. For this, we have planned an itinerary to allow you to get acclimatize naturally. We know a particular location where you need to stay for rest to acclimatize, the particular distance you need to walk slowly pace study and so on. In case you get AMS, we have to crews who know how to deal with, it effectively and smartly.

Altitude Sickness:

While trekking in Nepal is extremely satisfying, altitude sickness might get a better hold of you at times. The air pressure and oxygen concentration decrease the higher you travel. As such, altitude sickness is an illness that the human body suffers from due to these reasons. The symptoms of the sickness include lack of appetite, nausea, weakness, lightheartedness, sleep disturbance, tiredness, and headache. These symptoms generally appear when moving upwards of the height of 2,400 meters from sea level.

You can adopt different measures to avoid altitude sickness like a walk at a slow and steady pace, avoiding smoking, and stopping at different stations to acclimatize. Before beginning your trek, make sure you have a first aid kit with ibuprofen or paracetamol and Diamox. If anyone falls victim to altitude sickness, it is necessary to inform the trip leader and descend to a lower altitude. In extreme cases, it might also be necessary to perform Heli rescue and emergency evacuations.

Travel Insurance:

Accidents can happen anywhere so, it is recommended for all tourists to get travel insurance before visiting Nepal. Depending upon the insurance policy and the company, the insurance will look after tragic like theft, loss or accidental damage of gears and other belongings, baggage, and medical emergencies. Likewise, the insurance should also include helicopter evacuation and any kinds of mishaps that might occur during adventure sporting like bungee jumping, rafting, and zip-lining. No one is capable of foreseeing the accidents, but each individual can buy themselves an insurance policy to lessen the effects of the accident.

Internet and Communication:

It is quite easy to access the Internet in Nepal. Using Wi-Fi is a widely used way to communicate and use the Internet. Wi-Fi is easily available in major cities and even in some remote destinations. When trekking to remote locations, Wi-Fi might not always be available; so, using cellular data is the best way to communicate over the Internet. You can buy a Sim-card in Nepal at a reasonable price which allows you to make an international call. Also, you can use mobile data while you are in areas without Wi-Fi. Trekking Seasons in Nepal:

The country lies on the temperate zone and has four distinct climates: spring, summer (with monsoon), autumn, and winter. Normally, the best time to trek in Nepal is in March-May (spring) when the skies are clear, trails are filled with blooming flora, and the temperature is just right.

Another appropriate season is mid-September to November (autumn), during which the temperature is moderate, skies are clear, and mountain views are stunning. The summer season (June – August) is occupied by heavy rainfall increasing the chances of landslides in the hills, while the winter season brings in harsh weather conditions and extreme cold. However, there are treks which can be done during winter and monsoon as well.
