Annapurna Nar-Phu Trek Overview
Nar-Phu Annapurna trek begins taking an exciting long drive to reach Lamjung district around Nepal Mid-West within low and warmer areas enriched with vast agriculture farming of paddy fields and then following the raging Marysangdi River upstream. As the walk progressed after ending the drive at Syange village headed into mid-hills full of farm villages and interesting to witness the old heritage life of the local villagers with a mixed culture of both Hindu and Buddhism religions.
Slowly, our route enters high ground encountering lovely alpine woodland of pines and rhododendron tree lines to reach around cooler areas at Kotto near Chame, the headquarters of Manang district. From Kotto village where our actual adventure starts on leaving the main and popular Annapurna circuit trails for a week into isolation walking within a deep river gorge filled with a patch of forest in-between high rocky cliffs, walking through small settlements and farm villages to reach our promised land at Phu situated on the high scenic valley in the shade of mighty peaks of Himlung and Damodar Himal.
Strange and beautiful to observe the village life and culture by visiting its old monasteries of great interest, and then heading to its satellite village of Na, which is similar to Phu but smaller due to its remoteness location near to Kang-La pass. With interesting moments in the complete wilderness within the total ambience of the marvellous surrounding of arid landscapes and snow-capped peaks as well exploring the hidden villages of immense custom and culture, and then getting ready to cross over a high scenic Kang-la pass to reach the main Manang village.
Manang village is located in a scenic valley enclosed by Annapurna and Chulus peaks with close views of Gangapurna mountain ice falls, where a walk leads further west to traverse over the highest pass of the adventure above 5,416 m at Thorang-la with a mind-blowing panorama of dramatic landscapes and mountains of Dhaulagiri-Chulus-Damodar Himal with Mustang Mountains towards far North West.
On reaching the Mustang area at holy Muktinath famous high Himalayan pilgrimage destination for Hindus and Buddhists, regarded as a sacred spot where the word Mukti means Liberty of Freedom, where people from India and Nepal visit here to worship and bathe in its 108 natural waterspouts.
Here at Muktinath, our adventurous walks are complete by taking a short drive to Jomsom, the administrative and headquarters town of the Mustang area, and home to the Thakli tribe on this Old Trans Himalaya Salt Trade Route to Tibet from Nepal. From Jomsom, a scenic and spectacular flight takes you to beautiful Pokhara by its serene Phewa Lake where our outmost and magnificent adventure concludes with a wonderful experience on Nar-Phu Annapurna Trekking.
