Yalla Peak Climbing Overview
Yalla Peak Climbing is an adventure of two weeks duration and probably the shortest peak climbing trip in Nepal. The trip is within the beautiful Langtang valley enclosed by an array of giant snow-capped peaks. Yala Peak towers high at 5,500m (18,044 ft) in the midst of scenic Langtang Valley and close to the Tibetan border. The summit offers stunning views of Manaslu, Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, Naya Kang, Ganesh Himal, Shishapangma and Gangchempo range.
As Yalla Peak lies beyond human settlements and villages, camping for a few nights is necessary making the trip even more adventurous. Yala Peak Climb does not require much of mountaineering skills but is physically challenging and journey heading straight north from Kathmandu city on a winding uphill drive to reach around Rasuwa district. Rasuwa is home to the Tamang people the tribe of Langtang Himal region of strong Tibetan Buddhism religion and culture.
As the walk starts after the end of the drive heading northward past the river gorge covered by a nice serene forest and then reaching the beautiful valley of Langtang at Kyanjin. You’ll have enough time here for a side hike to support acclimatisation and enjoy super views. From Kyanjin, the walk leads to the far end of Langtang valley to the base of Yala peak where our real adventure begins.
Yalla Peak Climbing starts as the weather permits. The climb is a great ascent with a mind-blowing panorama of surrounding high mountain ranges.
After a challenging trek and peak climb, you’ll descend back to Langtang valley.
Yalla Peak Climbing Difficulty
Yalla Peak Climbing is graded as ‘F’ meaning ‘Facial Easy’. The grading comes from the French and Swiss Climbing Classification Systems. It is a straightforward climb with less technical effort but requires proper climbing gear and physical fitness.
