Chitwan National Park is the oldest national park in Nepal and also the most famous park for jungle safari situated in the plains of Nepal. It offers an exciting jungle safari on a elephant or a jeep ride in search of rare wild animals, birds and plants. The national park covers an area of 932 sq km and is one of the UNESCO world heritage sites in Nepal.

Located in the mid-south of Nepal at a distance of around 150 km (5 hours drive from Kathmandu or Pokhara), Chitwan National Park Safari offers a great way to spend your time close to nature. The region is home to an indigenous tribe, Tharus. The park is often regarded as Asia’s best park.  It offers 450 different species of wildlife including the Royal Bengal Tiger, one-horned Rhino, four different species of deer, wild boars, leopards, king cobra, python, mongoose, wild elephants and Arna (wild buffalo). Bird life in the park includes 450 species of birds some of which are Bengal Floricans, Giant Hornbills and Kingfishers.

Chitwan Jungle Safari Itinerary

  • Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Chitwan and transfer to hotel in Sauraha – 05 hrs.
  • Day 02: Full-day jungle and wild-life Safari with elephant and jeep rides.
  • Day 03: Nature tour around Chitwan National Park and drive to Kathmandu.

After a 5/6 hrs drive from Kathmandu, we will reach our hotel/resort, situated in the buffer zone of the park. Then, our Chitwan jungle safari crew will take you for exciting rides in the jungle. You’ll also explore the Rapti river which offers chances to witness bird life and crocodiles in their natural surrounding. The tour also includes a visit to the Tharu village, the indigenous tribes of the Terai belt in the early days were famous for hunting and they hunted for Kings and monarchs. At present, the park is protected by the park administration as it stands as the first national park in Nepal.

Best Time to Visit Chitwan National Park

Nearly all months of the year except June to mid-September with heavy monsoon rains is regarded as the best time to explore the Chitwan National Park in Nepal. March to May is when wildflowers are in season and the jungle life will also be active. October to January is another best time as the days are clear for wild animals and bird-life sightings. However, morning and nighttime are cold during the season.

  • Day 1 Drive to Chitwan and transfer to lodge / resort - 05 hrs.

    Morning drive from Kathmandu on the exciting highway past farm villages and towns following Trisuli River for a few hours to reach Nepal south flat land known as Terai belt, where deep dense forest and Chitwan National Park located, on reaching Chitwan transfer in the comfort of nice hotels-resorts, located near the buffer zone of the park premises a mere distance from the main park entrance. Afternoon leisure nature walks or visits Tharu village native of Chitwan and Nepal Terai areas.

  • Day 2 Full day jungle activities with elephant ride and jungle walks.

    activities as per Park and Hotel set program for different groups with elephant briefing & bathing (depending upon the depth and size of the river at different seasons) Nature or Introductory walk. Elephant Safari, jungle walk includes a visit to the tower (Machan) visit and Jungle drives, afternoon jungle activities of 2-3 hours, refreshing hours at leisure, evening program slide show on Chitwan National Park and its history, flora and wildlife include local Tharu Cultural Stick Dance program before dinner is served around 8 pm onward.

  • Day 3 Drive back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

    With early morning nature activities, after breakfast, an enjoyable exciting drive to Kathmandu, where the journey continues following the Trisuli River upstream for a few hours and then uphill to reach Kathmandu valley, from the highest point of the valley rim a short drive of an hour back in the hustle-bustle city life of Kathmandu, and then transfer to your hotel with afternoon free for individual activities and shopping souvenirs.

  • Day 4 International departure for homeward bound.

    After a wonderful time in Nepal with an amazing time in a nicer park visit enjoying an adventure on Chitwan National Park around Terai belt visit, with last day in the Himalayan country enjoying an adventure on Tarai flat and, where our staff and guide transfers you to the airport for your flight back home or to next port of call.
