Hiking in Nepal

Hiking in Nepal is a short walk for recreational purposes. While these are somewhat similar to trekking, they are not as hard and are usually carried out on well-made trails. Amongst all the adventurous activities, hiking is considered one of the best natural exercises that don’t require any equipment. Nepal is considered one of the finest destinations for this purpose. The country is blessed with diverse topography including tall hills, green lush valleys, and white water Rivers along with remarkable cultural variance. This makes it a paradise for adventure enthusiasts and hikers alike.

Overall, hiking in Nepal is one of the most famous adventure activities. Hikes allow you to enjoy the natural beauty of the country while also offering a taste of local culture. Hikes are easier and do not require massive physical effort. Moreover, travellers can either indulge in hikes during their stay in Nepal or customize the itinerary to spend a couple of spare days after lengthy trips. Hikes can also be done throughout the year; however, monsoon (June-August) does pose some challenges.

Day Trip from 10 A.M. to 03-04 P.M.:

Hiking In Nepal Early morning after breakfast at approx: 07 A.M. our guide and staff will pick you up from your hotel in Kathmandu for a few hours drives to reach rafting Put In Point, by the side of River Trisuli.

Getting in the boat (rubber inflatable raft) after putting on helmets-life jackets with an outfit for day rafting (shorts and T-shirts with light footwear runners-sports shoes a must in rafting), where our Captain or River Guide will brief us with safety instructions including paddling technique required to encounter high waves and rapids.

By 10 A.M. or 11 A.M. Ready for a cool splash as Rafting leads downstream coming through friendly rapids and bouncy waves with time to observe rural farm villages along the shore of the river.

Rafting takes you to thrill going through rapids like Double Decker, Lady’s Delight, Monsoon and Upset rapids with Surprise slowly after an enjoyable float reaching at the end of the trip at Kuringhat, with time to change into dry clothes and then drive back to Kathmandu after a great exciting day rafting on Trisuli River in out White Water Rafting.

Day Hike:

Shivapuri:
Hiking In Nepal while in Kathmandu before your major trip to other Himalayan destinations where one take a day hike, within Kathmandu valley rim several interesting areas for a day hike to Shivapuri at above Shivapuri 2,540 m high offers a scenic panorama of Central-Western and Mid East Himalaya range of peaks in tranquil natural surroundings, where walk leads after a short drive from your hotel towards of valley rim.

Phulchowki Hill:
Another great day hike is to Phulchowki Hill at the height of 2,760 m, where a short drive of less than an hour brings you to the southeast of Kathmandu valley rim within the Lalitpur district to start the walk. Where walk leads from Nepal’s famous botanical garden at the Godavari to begin the hike uphill on a winding trail within serene woodland of rhododendron-pines-oaks and fir tree lines on reaching the top after a few hours of climb enjoy views of 360° range of Himalayan Peaks.

From this vantage point enjoy looking over Manaslu-Ganesh Himal towards the west, with Langtang and Jugal Himal in the north, including views Mid-East Himalayan peaks with Gaurishankar, Melung-Tse, Number as far to Mt. Everest range. After a wonderful time descend back for the drive to your hotel after a lovely enjoyable and scenic day on a hike around Kathmandu valley rim hills.

Skiing: 

Nepal due to its high mountains with sheer cliff edge hills offers few areas for skiing when the snow level is fit enough for the sports of skiing down from the mountains, it is tough and only expert world-class skiers have dared skiing in Nepal Himalaya like from Mt. Everest and other giant peaks.

However for enthusiasm and interest where one ski from Mera Peak around Khumbu and the Everest area where one can take a Helicopter or trek and climb the top of Mera Peak at 6,461 m and 21, 1907 ft high, facing a sweeping panorama of surrounding peaks with Everest and far towards the eastern horizon with Makalu and Kanchenjunga mountain range.

Other great few areas at Annapurna Sanctuary taking a Helicopter or trek from Pokhara for a few days and climbing some nearby steep hills and small peaks and skiing down to the end of the sanctuary, (possible only when in heavy deep snow). 

Paragliding:  

Paragliding is another adventure sport at present very popular within Nepal where one can glide in clear blue sky in close backdrop of high Himalayan Peaks. Paragliding can be done in and around Kathmandu valley where it takes you to a hill near Phulchowki Hill after a short drive and walk and then run and float with grand views of the valley overlooking the mountain panorama.

The next great area for Paragliding is at sunny Pokhara takes you to the hill of Sarankot at 1,460 m a great touristic spot for a stunning sunrise over the Annapurna and Manaslu range of peaks, where paragliding takes off with scenic float with close views of nearby Annapurna and Machhapuchare Himal ‘Fish Tail’ with the green valley of Pokhara and its serene lake Phewa.

A glide that takes a maximum of one hour is a great thrill with gorgeous views of landscapes and a snow-clad peak range.
